Kobo is not the first name you think when you name manufacturers ebook reader, nor the second. These honors, I bet, go to Amazon and Barnes & Noble, respectively (if Barnes & Noble Reader Nook new Touch ($ 139, 4.5 stars) could return this order). Kobo swings for the fences with its latest device, the eReader Kobo Touch Edition ($ 129 direct). The Touch Edition is thinner than the eReader Kobo Wireless (3.5 stars), and adds a touch screen and some performance improvements. This is a good ebook reader and a touch screen is a much more natural fit than the directional pad used by Kobo. With no hardware page-turn buttons, however, and a tendency to lag heavily loading anything, even chapters in a book that is not quite at the big kahuna ebook.
