Sounds like you have an upgrade version rather than a full Office 2003 disc.
sounds like you are trying to install some type of upgrade instead of a full installation.
office professional is not suppose to depend on any previous version. please message me and tell me exactly what error you are getting so i can research this.
can't promise you i can fix this problem but maybe i can direct you
It sounds like you might have downloaded a trial version of newer software that makes it impossible to use Office 97 because you downloaded trials that change the content of the software.
You need to UnInstall All Of the Microsoft Office Software and then start all over with 97 unless you purchase the newer versions.
You do not need any previous version for 2003 to take effect. Are you sure you have the real thing from m/soft?
